Golden Globes Beauty

Golden Globe Top five make-up looks:

Any award ceremony is the ultimate time for an actor to look their best. The recent Golden Globe awards were certainly no exception. Here are the top five looks which show truly masterful make-up artistry.

1)Michelle Williams – Known for her natural approach to beauty, the ‘Blue Valentine’ star kept her make-up fresh and pretty, with an added sixties vibe. Her make-up artist Jeanine Lobell explained the choice of make-up, “Michelle walked in with a new haircut, courtesy of Chris McMillan, that was reminiscent of past cropped-cut actresses like Mia Farrow and Jean Seberg. This, combined with her daisy-print Valentino gown, gave me the inspiration for the slightly sixties makeup.”

2) Angelina Jolie – She might go for the same, simple make-up at every awards ceremony but simple is certainly best for Angelina Jolie.  With her slightly smoked eyes and glossy lips, Angelina set the mark high for other Golden Globe nominees. Make-up artist Tony G used Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Love. Toni said of the gloss, “Chantecaille Brilliant Lip Gloss maintains lip moisture and is fresh and sexy.”

3) Amy Adams – Ever the polished beauty, Amy Adams lived up to her fresh faced appeal. With pink cheeks and lashes packed with volume the star oozed classic Hollywood beauty. Make-up artist Molly Stern revealed the secret behind Amy’s sultry eyes, “I gave her some really bold lashes. Usually, I’m all, ‘Let’s do brown! It’s more neutral and fresh!’ But tonight, we pulled out the black Hypnôse mascara, and I lined with Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner in Minuit. The combination of navy and black brought out the colour of her eyes”.

4) Claire Danes – At every awards ceremony Claire Danes always sports a sleek, sophisticated look and this year was no exception. The star was dressed in a salmon-pink dress with matching make-up. Laura Mercier’s artistry director, Martin, kept the look youthful and luminous yet used hints of coral to keep the look playful. Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Rose Petal was used on the apples of the cheeks for a fresh look.  The lips were pink and glossy using Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Bonbon and Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Bare Beige over the top.

5)  Scarlett Johansson – The face of Dolce and Gabbana’s make-up line went for a rosy, classic look that brought out her natural beauty. Her standout feature was her skin which was kept smooth and luminous.  Make-up artist Matthew Vanleeuwen used Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Finish Creamy Foundation in Classic.  He then used Dolce& Gabbana Illuminator in Eva to highlight her brow, cheekbones and nose. He finished by applying a berry toned stain to Scarlett’s lips using Classic Cream Lipstick.  A walking advertisement for the Dolce and Gabbana make-up line if there ever was one.
